Scheduled to make its debut in the UK starting March 2024, the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid boasts a refreshed design that sets it apart, thanks to an all-new front bumper and grille uniquely crafted by Mazda.
Designed at Mazda’s European Design Studio in Germany, this revamped front bumper, in combination with the distinctive rear tailgate garnish, grants the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid a rejuvenated and distinctive appearance.
What to Expect from the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid
Having made its entrance in May 2022, the Mazda2 Hybrid has garnered considerable popularity among the Mazda line-up. It coexists with the well-established and recently updated Mazda2, thereby providing customers with an extensive range of choices in the small hatchback market.
With its arrival scheduled for March, the upgraded 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid will continue to be offered alongside the Mazda2, ensuring Mazda’s comprehensive line-up of supermini vehicles.
In Britain, the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid will come in four fresh models: Centre-Line, Exclusive-Line, Homura, and Homura Plus, with prices ranging from £24,130 to £29,230. Alongside enhancements to the exterior design particular to Mazda, this new model offers improved connectivity and entertainment features across all versions. These include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a new colour touch screen central display.
Mazda Electric Range
As a component of Mazda’s electrified line-up, which includes the battery-electric Mazda MX-30, Mazda CX-60 PHEV, and the soon-to-be-launched Mazda e-Skyactiv R-EV, the Mazda2 Hybrid introduces self-charging full hybrid powertrain technology to Mazda’s model range.
The 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid generates a combined power of 116ps through a CVT automatic transmission. It achieves a 0-62mph acceleration in 9.7 seconds and offers a WLTP combined cycle fuel economy ranging from 67.3 to 74.3mpg. CO2 emissions vary between 87-98g/km depending on whether it’s equipped with 16” or 15” wheels.
Upon start-up, the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid automatically operates in EV mode, delivering a smooth, quiet ride using electric motor power in city settings, emitting zero CO2, NOx, and particulates. While driving normally, the power distribution adjusts between the petrol engine and electric motor for peak performance and enhanced fuel efficiency. Additionally, when decelerating or braking, the vehicle captures kinetic energy and converts it into electrical energy for storage in the high-performance battery.
The engine-driven generator consistently monitors the battery power level, eliminating the requirement for external system recharging. Despite being a compact B-segment car, the new Mazda2 Hybrid’s lengthy 2,560 mm wheelbase provides comfortable seating for up to four adults and offers 286 litres of boot space.
Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director of Mazda UK, commented,
The Mazda2 Hybrid is a popular addition to our line-up in the UK and we have good demand for the car in our dealerships and it’s great that from next March it will feature a greater element of Mazda exterior design personality.
With the Mazda2 Hybrid sold alongside the recently updated Mazda2, which offers our customers extra individuality with more distinct model grades, increased colour choice and refreshed styling, we are giving customers in the supermini segment the choice of two distinct models, depending on their needs.
In conclusion, the 2024 Mazda2 Hybrid’s imminent arrival in the UK promises an exciting blend of style and innovation, exemplifying Mazda’s commitment to offering choice and distinction in the supermini segment. With its refreshed design and hybrid technology, it’s a vehicle worth keeping an eye on.
